SAMURAI WARRIORS TAKE MAIDEN TOURNAMENT
[Monday, December 14, 2015 23:00:06]Saturday the 12th of December was the opening day of the Cape Town Sevens... It was also the opening tournament of the 2015 Hot Summer of Touch just a few kilometers down the road...
In what can only be described as typical "4 seasons in a day Cape Town weather", we were greeted with pouring rain at 07h30. The weather clearly did nothing to deter the players as a record (Camps Bay) 43 teams registered to play.
The touch was scintilating from the beginning but as the weather improved, the touch got better.
Newcomers to the Pro Series, as a group, the Samurai Warriors caused a major upset! First by beating the One Day Only Warriors in the Semi Finals, and then by upstaging the Living Legends in the Final.
The Challenger series was won by the Liberty West Rebels, The Open Tournament was won by the Akuna Warriors and the best performing junior team was the Perfect Gentlemen Juniors.
The series moves to the Strand on Wednesday the 16th. A record number of teams is expected and the first 15 registered teams will receive a free give-away!
